New Delhi: The tax department has extended
the deadline for filing income tax form `ITR-V`, which is
necessary to process the returns filed electronically.

The forms can now be filed to central processing centre
(CPC) at Bangalore by December 31 this year or 120 days from
the date of filing whichever is later, the Central Board of
Direct Taxes (CBDT) said in a statement.

Without acknowledgement of the ITR-V from the CPC, it
would not be possible for the income tax department to process
the I-T returns filed electronically (without digital
signature) or issue any refunds thereon, the statement said.
