'Defensive' BJP asks AAP to introspect

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) should first introspect on issues that indict the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi Government rather than pointing fingers at the Centre on allegations that hold no reality.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) should first introspect on issues that indict the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi Government rather than pointing fingers at the Centre on allegations that hold no reality.

"It just goes on to show the farce that AAP is. They have picked up an issue which does not have any reality. The allegations are all false but they do not want to introspect and answer on many issues which relate and indicts AAP, particularly when Arvind Kejriwal as per Yogendra Yadav knew that Tomar had a fake degree but he did not act against him. He wanted to protect him and now he comes up and makes a straight face and says 'Oh I am so sorry, he misled me'..." BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh told ANI here.

"They need to introspect rather than raising fingers at BJP on allegations which have no truth," he added.

The AAP today staged a protest march in the national capital, demanding the resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, HRD Minister Smriti Irani and Maharashtra Women and Child Welfare Minister Pankaja Munde.

The ruling BJP at the Centre has so far been defending Swaraj and Raje despite opposition demands that the duo be sacked for helping former IPL boss Lalit Modi.

Irani is under sharp criticism following a complaint that she misrepresented her educational qualifications in documents filed in different years with the Election Commission.

The Maharashtra Congress had earlier submitted a complaint to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) alleging violations in purchases made by the Women and Child Welfare Department. According to reports, Munde was alleged to have cleared purchases worth Rs 206 crore on a single day in February through 24 government resolutions instead of inviting tenders.
