New Delhi: The issue of 'One-Rank, One-Pension' which is hanging fire for some time now was on Monday raised before Defence Minister AK Antony by a delegation of retired Army officers led by Congress MP Partap Singh Bajwa.

The delegation led by the Gurdaspur MP sought Antony's intervention in its early implementation and brought to his attention problems faced by military officers and jawans.

Justice was not being done for the gallantry and noble services rendered by them, Bajwa said in press release.

He said the Minister was apprised of the demand of the ex-Servicemen that there should be One-Rank One-Pension (OROP).

While urging the Minister to delink the civilian pay from that of the personnel of armed forces, Bajwa said, "Considering the disparity between duties of defence personnel with their civilian counterparts, due recognition and respect is not being given to them. The demand of one rank one pension is justified and long overdue. Even the standing committee on defence has recommended the inclusion of OROP."

Members of the delegation included Brig (Retd) K S Kahlon, Brig (Retd) MPS Bajwa, Col (Retd) Dharam Singh and Col (Retd) Ajay Opal, all of whom have been fighting for issues relating to welfare of defence personnel including voicing the demand for One Rank One Pension.

I don`t know what government think about ex-servicemen. When the maximum where sleeping, the defense personnel`s where guarding the borders of our nation. The government should not delay the demand of ex-servicemen.Because this a lesson for the present service personnel.

One more clause was omitted in the VIth pay commission that POBORs in Defence services will be eligible for pension @ 70% of their basic pay (pay in band+grade pay+MSP+Gp X Pay).

You were just doing your job like anyone else. Weren`t you paid? So what`s all the fuss abt guarding the borders whle others slept? There were many more who were operating factory night shifts, guarding theier fields, driving trucks or trains etc.

the real issue is the junior getting more pension than his senior. ex servicemen are not greedy but want to be paid the same money their junior gets now. please understand.

A soldier doesn`t do the job like any other. There is a difference which you can`t understand just like IAS lobby in the pay commissions do not understand. You will have to take another birth and join Defence forces to get the giest of Soldier. And We are not paid for what we do. If it had been so we would have been paid 3-4 times currently we are paid. Just for the shake of you knowledge read http://www.indianmilitary.info/2012/04/stark-discrimination-between-disabled.html

Justice delayed is justice denied. The Ex-servicemen community in India believes that the Defence Minister Sri. AK Antony is really having an interest to promote to the welfare of ex-servicemen. Though he has done justice to the serving defence personnel in the last pay commission , it was missing for ex-servicemen. We still hope the defence minister will not waste any more time on this issue and make the OROP effective immediately.

It is surprising that when perks of MP,s/ MLA,s to be incresed by manyfolds, all parties/ MP,s voice in the same voice and their demands are accepted even without any discussion. Even Shri Laloo Yadav Ji agrees to pass the increase in 5 minutes, where as to pass the OROP even 25 years are also not sufficient. MP.s/ MLA,s are Entitled to Perks/ Pension even after 5 years serving as MP/MLA forlife long and these increased from time to time. They are least worried to have a look at the problems of the devoted and disciplined soldiers of the nation. of

OROP IS A POINT RAISED IN TIME OF LATE SHRI V P SINGH FORMER PRIME MINISTER 27 YEARS AGO. I am very much surprised why it is not come into effect yet.

Like the above delegation, I alongwith other Ex-servicemen have met the Defence Minister and requested him to direct his Ministry to implement One Rank One Pension. While the Hon`ble Minister gives positive reply for settling this issue, the civilian bureaucrats working in the Ministry of Defence are against its implementation. So, whether OROP will be given to Ex-Servicemen is not known. But the Defence Minister always gives assurance that it will be implemented and he is working in this regard. But how many years he will take to implement this?

I have read in the newspaper that Govt has agreed in principle to implement one rank one pension as per statement given by Gen V.K. Singh COAS. Now it is not understood why defeence Minister has not given proper assurance to the delegation led by Partap Singh Bajwa M.P. Please clarify if someone knows correctness for one rank one pension implementation.
