New Delhi: The issue of 'One-Rank, One-Pension' which is hanging fire for some time now was on Monday raised before Defence Minister AK Antony by a delegation of retired Army officers led by Congress MP Partap Singh Bajwa.

The delegation led by the Gurdaspur MP sought Antony's intervention in its early implementation and brought to his attention problems faced by military officers and jawans.

Justice was not being done for the gallantry and noble services rendered by them, Bajwa said in press release.

He said the Minister was apprised of the demand of the ex-Servicemen that there should be One-Rank One-Pension (OROP).

While urging the Minister to delink the civilian pay from that of the personnel of armed forces, Bajwa said, "Considering the disparity between duties of defence personnel with their civilian counterparts, due recognition and respect is not being given to them. The demand of one rank one pension is justified and long overdue. Even the standing committee on defence has recommended the inclusion of OROP."

Members of the delegation included Brig (Retd) K S Kahlon, Brig (Retd) MPS Bajwa, Col (Retd) Dharam Singh and Col (Retd) Ajay Opal, all of whom have been fighting for issues relating to welfare of defence personnel including voicing the demand for One Rank One Pension.

our OROP issue will be dragged by the present Govt. to the General elections 2014 and may announce partially. Since our political and burocrat wings are not treating our service as noble and supreame at the sametime we have been treated very ordinary and vote bank. So I am appealing to Ex-servicemen to vote against the Govt. if they failed to impliment Our OROP.

The issue of One Rank & One Pension has undergone so much of delay due to which several ex-servicemen specially those of PBORs suffered after their initial terms of engagement or discharge from service with raising cost of living, falling money value, costly education systems, children`s marriage and educational needs and many other problems which can not be noticed by many people. Truly speaking, it is peanuts amount what we spend for ex-servicemen pensions, if we can reduce high corruption and high black money prevailing in our country. Save Military and Save those who were prepared to laid down their lives for our country. Jai Bharat.

Deletations had met the Defence Minister for last one decade in the past, Deletations are meeting the Defence Minister every month for the present and Delegations will be meeting the Defence for next two decades in future for implementation of ONE RANK ONE PENSION. He will do nothing other than giving simple assurance.

I have read in the newspaper that Govt has agreed in principle to implement one rank one pension as per statement given by Gen V.K. Singh COAS. Now it is not understood why defeence Minister has not given proper assurance to the delegation led by Partap Singh Bajwa M.P. Please clarify if someone knows correctness for one rank one pension implementation.

Like the above delegation, I alongwith other Ex-servicemen have met the Defence Minister and requested him to direct his Ministry to implement One Rank One Pension. While the Hon`ble Minister gives positive reply for settling this issue, the civilian bureaucrats working in the Ministry of Defence are against its implementation. So, whether OROP will be given to Ex-Servicemen is not known. But the Defence Minister always gives assurance that it will be implemented and he is working in this regard. But how many years he will take to implement this?
