Delhi BJP asks LG to improve condition of night shelters

The Delhi unit of BJP on Thursday urged Lt Governor Najeeb Jung to improve the condition of city's night shelters.

New Delhi: The Delhi unit of BJP on Thursday urged Lt Governor Najeeb Jung to improve the condition of city's night shelters.

In his letter to Jung, Delhi BJP leader Satish Upadhyay said, "During the tenure of Congress and AAP governments and after that the bureaucrats, the condition of night shelters became bad to worse."

He demanded that the officials concerned be directed to improve the condition of such shelters.

"There should be arrangement for tea and snacks in the evening and morning, drinking water, blankets, beds, toilets, sanitation in the night shelters. The night shelters should be connected with the neighbourhood hospitals so that in case any poor person falls ill, he will be treated free of cost," he said.

Meanwhile, a delegation of BJP leaders today visited various night shelters and took stock of their condition.

They visited ISBT, Ajmeri Gate Chowk, Nehru Place, New Delhi Gole Dankhana, Sultanpuri, Mangolpuri, Rohini, Patparganj centres and found that the arrangements were not satisfactory there.
