Delhi blast: Court takes cognisance of chargesheets against suspects

A Delhi court on Thursday took cognisance of the chargesheets filed against two suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists for their alleged involvement in the serial blasts here on September 13, 2008.

New Delhi: A Delhi court on Thursday took
cognisance of the chargesheets filed against two suspected
Indian Mujahideen terrorists for their alleged involvement in
the serial blasts here on September 13, 2008.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja also directed
the Delhi police`s Special Cell to provide Shahzad and Salman
copies of the supplementary chargesheets filed against them in
five cases registered in connection with the synchronised
blasts.
The police had filed the chargesheets against the duo on
May 15.

Both the accused had remained elusive for several months
before being apprehended from Uttar Pradesh. Their names had
emerged after the arrests of other accused following the Batla
House encounter here on September 19, 2008.

The court posted the matter for May 24 for transferring
the case to the sessions court which is likely to start
hearing arguments on framing of charges against them from June
one.
The sessions court is conducting the proceedings in the
blasts cases through video conferencing as out of total 14
suspects, several are lodged in Sabarmati Jail in Ahmedabad
for their alleged in serial blasts there.

Five cases were registered in connection with the serial
blasts in Delhi on September 13, 2008, which killed 26 people
and injured over 135 others.
