The slipper fell well short of Dikshit who had gone to Nand Nagri to inaugurate two renovated circle office of Food and Supplies department and she continued with the proceedings after the incident.

The group, which included women, showed black flags to Dikshit, shouted `Sheila Dikshit hai hai` and even squatted in front of her convoy to protest rise in prices of essential commodities and significant hike in power tariff.

"Elements who are trying to spread lawlessness and anarchy are behind such acts," the chief minister said later.
