Delhi CM inaugurates four major road projects

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today inaugurated four major road projects, including two flyovers in East Delhi, which are expected to ease the traffic to a great extent.

Sheila Dikshit today inaugurated four major road projects,
including two flyovers in East Delhi, which are expected to
ease the traffic to a great extent.

The combined cost of all the four projects -- ITO Chungi
underpass, Shastri Nagar Pushta Flyover, Geeta Colony bridge
and Raja Ram Kohli Marg Flyover -- all in Trans Yamuna areas,
is Rs 412 crore.

Speaking on the occasion, she said the inauguration of the
projects was testimony to the commitment of her Government to
complete all Commonwealth-related projects well before time.

"We promised to make Delhi a world-class city and develop
all parts of the city including Trans-Yamuna area. The
commissioning of four new projects today is a major milestone
in fulfilling our promise," she added.

With the inauguration of the underpass, which was
constructed at a cost of Rs 81.77 crore in two years time, the
ITO Chungi junction has now become signal-free.

It has four clover-leaves for free right turn and two
slip roads and cycle track for free left turn from ITO to
Geeta Colony and Akshardham to ITO.
The Geeta Colony bridge over Yamuna has been constructed
at a cost of Rs 99.76 crore which has reduced the distance
between Trans-Yamuna area to ISBT and Old Delhi Railway
station. It has two carriageways each of nine meter width plus
three meter cycle track.
