New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila
Dikshit on Thursday took a jibe at the media, saying it had a knack
for highlighting negative issues round the clock while
ignoring many a positive development.

Speaking at a function to release a book, Dikshit said
while the media focuses continuously on the wrong things
happening around, the good events mostly go unreported.
"When we take a progressive step, it is never covered.
But if something negative happens, say a death occurs or if
someone falls ill, we are immediately put in the dock,"
Dikshit said.

She said there was a problem with the general
perspective of looking at things, and this applied to the
media as well.

"For 24 hours, we will see on TV channels one news
that is not positive. But events like a good exhibition or the
launch of a valuable book are not shown, or given very less
space," she said.

The Chief Minister was speaking after releasing a book
`Happy Hours -- Relationship on a High` by young author Sweta
Chowdhury.
A relationship guide, the book has been written by a
psychologist to offer easy and practical techniques which can
make a difference in the daily lives and relationships of
people.

"Mostly smaller things in life, like spending a calm
day under the sun or soaking in the rain, give us more
pleasure than bigger things, and we fail to take note of this
fact. The book brings this point forward very effectively,"
she said.
