New Delhi: Delhi former Chief Minister and Congress leader Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday took a pot shot at Arvind Kejriwal over the Aam Aadmi Party's draft bill that has sought full statehood status for the national capital.
"Don't know what they've (AAP) said in their draft bill. We had demanded for some part of police be given to Delhi Govt. Moreover, we have also sought representation of Delhi government in DDA. However, looking at the situation, we don't think that government of India is in a mood to give statehood to Delhi," Sheila Dikshit told ANI.
Adding further, the Congress vete1ran said, "The Delhi government cannot handle MCD alone, how will they handle if statehood is granted (MCD ko to sambhal nhi paate hain Delhi Govt, saara statehood le lenge to kaise karenge)."
Earlier today, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a press conference announced that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has made a draft bill seeking full statehood status for the national capital.
The AAP chief also said, “We have uploaded the draft bill on our website.” He requested the Delhiites to come forward with suggestions regarding the draft bill till June 30.
