Delhi heist: 1 more arrested; Haryana cops took some looted cash

Sunil alias Kake (26) was arrested from the Nangloi area of West Delhi and Rs 25 lakh was recovered from him, police said today.

New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested another person in connection with the daring daylight heist in Lajpat Nagar area, even as they claimed that one of the robbers detained by their counterparts in Haryana was let off after the cops kept a big chunk of the cash recovered from him.

Sunil alias Kake (26) was arrested from the Nangloi area of West Delhi and Rs 25 lakh was recovered from him, police said today.

Sunil was nabbed on information provided by two of his associates, Ajay Nagarwal (22) and Joginder alias Johny (24) who were arrested on Monday and Tuesday respectively.

With this, seven people including the juvenile mastermind have been apprehended in the case. Hunt is on to nab three more absconding robbers identified as Pradeep alias Machinder, Shakti Naidu and Shakeel.

Police have recovered Rs 64 lakh, a car and a motorcycle from Sunil, Ajay and Joginder and the remaining part of the looted money is said to be with the absconding trio.
The first arrest in this case was made by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police when Gulzar alias Bhola, Tilak and Praveen were nabbed while the juvenile offender was detained by the South-East Delhi Police. As per law, a juvenile can not arrested.

During interrogation it was learnt that Shakti, the key henchman in the case, had given Rs 10 lakh from the looted amount to Ajay and Pradeep to buy a second-hand SUV car which could be used by them to escape with the cash.
The duo went to Kherki Dola area in Gurgaon to looking for a car dealer, where they were stopped by two policemen. While Pradeep, managed to flee with Rs 1 lakh, Ajay who had Rs 9 lakh in a bag was caught by them.

"They took Ajay to Kherki Dola police station. He was kept their for three to four hours and allowed to go only after one of the constable kept Rs 7.5 lakh with him and returned only Rs 1.5 lakh in the bag. They even didn`t make an entry of his detention in the register," a Delhi police official said.

Delhi police said the matter will be taken up with Gurgaon police.

In one of the biggest robbery case in the national capital, on January 28 around seven armed men intercepted a Honda City car near Lajpat Nagar Metro station early morning and fled with the vehicle and Rs 7.69 crore in cash.
