Muzaffarnagar (UP): As heavy rains continue
to lash north India, the Delhi-Pauri highway has been closed
due to overflow of the river Ganga at Beraj near Bijnore,
officials said on Thursday.
The Delhi-Pauri highway which is the main link between
Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand was closed as the river Ganga
which had risen above danger mark in several places in UP,
Water entered five villages here including Hansawala,
Chohapur, Syanli, Husainpur and Bahadurpur. A bridge was also
submerged at Majlistofir village disrupting traffic on
Muzaffarnagar-Luksar road, they added.
People are being moved to safer places by the district
authorities, they added.
