Delhi polls: Congress accuses BJP, AAP of playing politics of betrayal

Congress on Sunday alleged that its rivals, BJP and Aam Aadmi Party were playing politics of betrayal by making false promises to the citizens in a bid to garner votes and win the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

New Delhi: Congress on Sunday alleged that its rivals, BJP and Aam Aadmi Party were playing politics of betrayal by making false promises to the citizens in a bid to garner votes and win the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Arvinder Singh Lovely, while addressing polls meetings in various constituencies here, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal have completely "forsaken" the important issue of women's safety and security.

"The people of Delhi have now fully realised that BJP and AAP had totally misled the people through false promises. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Arvind Kejriwal have completely forsaken an important issue like women's safety and security.

"Congress was the only party which could protect the interest of the people of Delhi, including women, as the party's policies and programmes have always been intended towards the welfare of the people," Lovely said.

"BJP and AAP were playing the politics of betrayal by making false promises to the people, to misguide and mislead them, in a bid to garner their votes, and win the elections, but after winning, they totally ignore their tall election promises," he said.

He also said that public should ask the leaders of BJP and AAP as to why the power tariff has not been reduced and why the BJP is now silent on the black money issue.

Lovely, while campaigning for the February 7 polls, held public meetings at various assembly constituencies including Tilak Nagar, Chattarpur, Mehrauli and Vishwas Nagar here.

Senior Congress leader and former MP Sajjan Kumar also addressed the Chattarpur public meeting.
