New Delhi: In yet another incident that can put humanity to shame, a 12-year-old girl working as a domestic help in Delhi house, was raped by a 77-year-old man for 12 days, as per reports.
While the result of the medical examination conducted on the girl has come positive, she is being counselled by a special police team.
According to the police, the girl who belongs to West Bengal, was raped continuously for the last 12 days. However, today when she resisted, the accused started beating her. On hearing the noise, the neighbours informed police which later raided the house and rescued the girl.
The accused, Mahendra Sehgal, who runs a transport business from Delhi`s Scindia House and stays in Malkaganj area of Sabji Mandi, used to forcefully show porn films to the girl.
He has now been arrested by the police.
The latest statistics of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) state that every day 93 women are being raped in the country.
The number of rapes in Delhi has almost doubled from 585 in 2012 to 1,441 in 2013. Delhi is followed by Mumbai (391), Jaipur (192) and Pune (171) among the top unsafe cities in the country.
