New Delhi: Despite a pleasant spell and early morning showers, Delhiites on Tuesday sweated as humidity rose to unbearable levels.

Humidity rose to a high of 94 percent during the day in the city where the maximum temperature was recorded at 34.5 degree Celsius, up from yesterday's 34 degrees.

The minimum humidity was recorded at 67 percent. The city received 2.6 mm of rains for a period of 24 hours till 8:30 am but after that there was no rain till 5:30 pm.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 27.8 degree Celsius against yesterday's 26.4 degrees.

The overnight rains affected the flow of traffic in several areas including Okhla, ITO, Janakpuri, Laxmi Nagar and RK Puram. Water-logging was reported from several parts of the city.

The Weatherman has predicted a generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers tomorrow with mercury oscillating between 28 and 34 degree Celsius.

The wait for seasonal rains in Delhi ended on Saturday with the South-West Monsoon touching the capital three days ahead of its normal onset.

Last year, the monsoon had a late arrival in the capital. The seasonal rains started only on July five last year after a delay of a week.
