Delhi`s industrial growth to pick up: Dikshit

Sheila Dikshit today said industrial growth in the national capital will pick momentum following handing over of maintenance of all 29 industrial estates in the city to premier infrastructure development agency DSIIDC.

New Delhi: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit
today said industrial growth in the national capital will pick
momentum following handing over of maintenance of all 29
industrial estates in the city to premier infrastructure
development agency DSIIDC.

Dikshit noted that basic infrastructure of the
industrial estates is in shambles now.

"They will have best of the facilities as DSIIDC, an
agency which has already earned a niche for building quality
infrastructure, is committed to improve the facilities.

"I hope industrial growth will increase after we
enhance infrastructure in the industrial estates," she said
while interacting with a group of representatives from various
traders` association.

Delhi Assembly last month had passed a legislation
paving the way for handing over of maintenance of the
industrial estates and four-flated factory units to DSIIDC.

"There has been a problem in managing industrial
estates due to multiplicity of authorities," Dikshit said.

There are 29 industrial estates in Delhi out of which
23 were developed by DDA. Some of the industrial estates are
being maintained by MCD while eight are being looked after by
the Industries department of the Delhi Government.

The representatives also thanked the Chief Minister
for giving six months` time to complete setting up factories
in industrial estates for which they were given land by the
government.

Earlier this week, the Delhi Cabinet had decided to
take back land from those allottees if they fail to complete
the construction of their factories within next six months.

Representatives of Narela Industrial Complex Welfare
Association, Bawana Chamber of Industry, Narela Re-location
Industrial Welfare Association, All India Federation of
Plastic Manufacturers and Tri Nagar Traders Associations were
present in the interaction.

Meanwhile BJP, which has been opposing handing over
of maintenance of the estates to DSIIDC, today said the basic
infrastructure in industrial estates being maintained by the
agency is in "poor shape".

A `fact finding team` appointed by Leader of
Opposition in Delhi Assembly V K Malhotra today visited Narela
industrial area developed by the DSIIDC and later claimed that
almost all the roads and other facilities at the estate are
"in dilapidated condition".
