Dikshit asks people to follow fire safety norms

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday exhorted people to strictly follow fire safety norms in their buildings and said her government was in the process of modernising the Delhi Fire Services.

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit
on Wednesday exhorted people to strictly follow fire safety norms in
their buildings and said her government was in the process of
modernising the Delhi Fire Services.

"There will be no dearth of funds for modernising our
fire services. People also must follow prescribed fire safety
norms in their buildings to prevent any incidents of fire,"
Dikshit said.

She was speaking at a function to mark Raising Day of
the Delhi Fire Service at Fire Safety Management Academy in
Rohini.

Dikshit said the government was in the process of
modernising the fire services in the city and as part of the
effort, various modern equipment were being procured.
The Chief Minister also complemented the Delhi Fire
Service for its "good work".

A colourful parade was organised on the occasion.
Dikshit also distributed the fire service medal to several
officers for their commendable services.
