New Delhi: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit
today congratulated Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for topping
Newsweek Magazine`s list of 10 world leaders who have won
respect and is described as "the leader other leaders` love".

"I would like to congratulate the Prime Minister for
the feat. The nation has got a Prime Minister who is one of
the best in the world," she said in the Delhi Assembly.

Although Dikshit wanted the House to pass a resolution
hailing the feat, leader of Opposition V K Malhotra differed
on it saying BJP would not be a party to such move.

"We are happy about the achievement. But equally the
country has been facing lot of problems including
unprecedented price rise during the UPA regime headed by
Singh. We would not like to associate ourselves in the
resolution," he said.

To this, a visibly upset Dikshit said she did not want
"to create a controversy".

In an article titled "The Leader Other Leaders Love",
the magazine said the economist-turned-politician Singh
engineered the transition "from stagnant socialism to a
spectacular takeoff in the global economy."

Besides Singh, British Premier David Cameron, French
President Nicolas Sarkozy, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao,
Brazilian President Luiz Incio Lula da Silva and Saudi
Arabia`s King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz al-Saud also figure in
the list.
