Dikshit praises PWD for bagging prestigious construction award
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit complimented the Public Works Department for bagging a prestigious award for two of its Commonwealth Games projects.
New Delhi: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit
on Wednesday complimented the Public Works Department for bagging a
prestigious award for two of its Commonwealth Games projects -
Barapullah Nullah elevated road and Thyagaraj stadium.
The Department had won this year`s Vishwa Karma award,
considered as a highest in the construction industry, for
"She congratulated the entire PWD team for achieving
this recognition," a senior official said.
PWD Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan and all top officials
of the department called on Dikshit and displayed the awards.
The awards were presented to the PWD at function here
on Monday. Vishwa Karma awards were instituted by Construction
Industry Development Council (CIDC), a semi-government body
which works under the Planning Commission.
The Thyagraj stadium bagged the award under the Social
Infrastructure category while Barapullah elevated road was
selected for the award under Road Infrastructure category.
The stadium had earlier won an award from Indian
Building Congress and another from the CPWD.
