New Delhi: Police pickets, women personnel,
patrolling vehicles -- police have made elaborate security
arrangements in Delhi University campus as it throws open its
doors to freshers tomorrow.

The measures, aimed at ensuring that the freshers do not
meet with incidents of ragging or face any other
inconvenience, were decided at a meeting of the DU Proctorial
Board and Delhi Police.

Police pickets have been erected at University Road,
Chatra Marg and GTB Road in North Campus while intensive
patrolling on foot and motorcycle will be done in university
area, a senior police official said.

Around 50 women police officials, in uniform as well as
in plainclothes, have been deployed at various locations
while a special checking in buses will also be done.

Elaborate anti eve-teasing arrangements have also been
made in and around the campus while four motorcycles have been
deployed for patrolling in the main campus.

Police have also formed five anti eve-teasing squads,
consisting of two male and two female personnel in each team.
An anti-stalking cell has already been established in North
Delhi police district.

Four PCR vans have also been deployed for intensive
patrolling in the campus, the official said.
