New Delhi: Alert residents today averted a major tragedy when a high-tension electric pole fell on a school bus in Mayur Vihar area of the east Delhi, police said.
Locals rushed to the spot and disconnected power supply to the pole by switching off its main button. At the time of the incident, a few children were inside the bus. All the children escaped unhurt owing to the alacrity displayed by the people of the area, police said.
The incident took place around 7:30 AM near Acharya Niketan in Mayur Vihar area when a private school bus was picking up the students for Noida.
The high tension wire, which was hanging at a very low height, came in the way of the speeding bus and it entangled with it thus uprooting the pole, police said.
