New Delhi: Former Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) MLA Bharat Singh was shot dead in a suspected case of gang-war in south-west Delhi's Najafgarh area on Sunday evening.
Two of his personal security officers who were also shot are said to be critical.
Around 8-10 unidentified people indiscriminately fired over 15 rounds at them, police said.
The incident took place at Raghunandan Vatika while they were attending a private function.
Police stated that the INLD leader had suffered bullet injures in his head.
Police officers informed that the three were rushed to Medanta hospital in Gurgaon after the shootout where Singh succumbed to his wounds.
A similar attack had taken place in June 2012, when Singh, then an MLA, was shot at outside his office in a south-west Delhi locality. One of his relatives had also received bullet injuries at that time.
In that case, police had arrested four persons, who are facing trial in the case.
