New Delhi: Delhi Police on Tuesday claimed to have
smashed a fake placement agency involved in duping more than
100 people in the name of providing domestic helps, nannies
and nurses with the arrest of two men.

The gang had changed their contact numbers more than 50
times in the past two months to avoid arrest, Deputy
Commissioner of Police (South) H G S Dhaliwal said.

The arrested have been identified as Salim Turkey (35)
and Bahuran Kumar (25). They were caught from Devli and Aya
Nagar area in the past three days following a series of raids.

The arrests came following investigations into a
complaint filed by Jagdish Narayan, a retired Central
government official, who claimed that he was cheated by two
persons who took Rs 10,000 from him promising to provide a
maid-servant.

Narayan said he approached Jay Placement Service in
Lajpat Nagar after seeing a newspaper advertisement.

"They were promised a domestic maid for of Rs 10,000 as
registration charges and salary of Rs 1,800 per month. Instead
of the complainant visiting their office, the duo offered to
provide service at their home," Dhaliwal said.

However, the promised maid did not turn up and Narayan
approached police. So far, by adopting the same modus-operandi
they have duped more than 100 people in and around the
National Capital Region, he said.

Many pamphlets and bogus receipt books and advertisement
materials used by the duo have been recovered from their
possession.
