Chandigarh: Thick early morning fog engulfed some parts of Haryana, including capital Chandigarh, affecting the movement of traffic.

While thick fog affected normal life in Chandigarh early today, visibility also dropped in the cities of Karnal and Rohtak in Haryana, where heavy fog prevailed in the morning, the MeT department said here.

The minimum temperatures, however, inched close to normal across both the states. In Chandigarh, it was recorded at 9.8 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal.

Ambala district of Haryana registered a low of 10.3 degrees Celsius, up by three notches while Karnal registered a low of 8.4 degrees Celsius. Rohtak's minimum settled at 8.3 degrees Celsius while Hisar recorded a low of 6 degrees Celsius.

Barring Amritsar in Punjab, where the mercury dipped to 4.8 degrees Celsius, most other towns in the state recorded above normal minimums.

Ludhiana's low was recorded at 9.7 degrees Celsius, up four notches while Patiala registered a low of 8.6 degrees Celsius with a rise two degrees.

The MeT has predicted a clear sky in the plains of both the states for tomorrow.
