Four arrested in connection with attack on Delhi Police constables

Four persons, including two juveniles, were arrested in connection with the attack on a Delhi Police team earlier this week, police said on Tuesday.

New Delhi: Four persons, including two juveniles, were arrested in connection with the attack on a Delhi Police team earlier this week, police said on Tuesday.

A constable was killed while another was seriously injured when the accused had opened fire on the two in the early hours of Monday in outer Delhi’s Vijay Vihar.

The incident happened when the policemen confronted the men on finding their activities suspicious.

Constable Jagbir had died on the spot while his colleague Narendra was critically injured and was battling for life at a city hospital.

Police said apart from the two main accused, two of their aides – both juveniles – have also been arrested. The arrests took place late last night.

The main accused are robbers and had opened fire on the cops fearing arrests, police officials said.

Constable Jagbir's service revolver has also been recovered from the accused.

The police will hold a press conference at 3:00 pm today to provide more details of the incident.
