Fresh dengue cases reported in Delhi

New Delhi: Five more fresh cases of dengue were reported from the national capital today, taking the total number of patients this season to 1,118.

With the dip in temperature, the number of dengue cases reported in a day has been declining over the past few days.
The per day figure of cases was mostly in single digit in the last week, barring yesterday when 12 cases were recorded. In November, 20 to 25 cases were being reported every day.

A fresh dengue death has also been confirmed yesterday, taking the toll this season to three -- one more than last year, health officials said.

"With five fresh cases of dengue, the total has reached 1,118," a senior official said.

Health officials said the number of cases has been declining with the dip in mercury. "However, we expect that reports of cases will come till mid-December," they said.
The dengue virus is most active in relatively warmer and humid weather with temperatures ranging between 16 and 30 degrees Celsius.
