New Delhi: Haryana has offered the services of doctors, drivers and trained manpower to Manitoba province of Canada.
The offer was made by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda during his meeting with Manitoba Premier Greg Selinger and members of his delegation, who called on him here on Monday.
Hooda said drivers of Haryana are well known for their skill and enterprise. Haryana has three government-run Driving Schools in Kaithal, Bahadurgarh and Rohtak.
In case any special training is needed for drivers as per Candian requirements the training can be upgraded accordingly.
He said Indian doctors are also doing well in the US, the UK and other countries and asked the Candian authorities to provide their syllabus to fill in the gap and train them as per Canadian requirements. Indian doctors going to Canada will not have to undertake further studies in Canada and it will thus save them a number of years.
Hooda said Haryana being an educational hub also has a number of prestigious technical institutions, which are providing skilled training to youth. Their skills can further be upgraded as per the syllabus of Manitoba.
Selinger suggested that their province has expertise in food processing technology. Manitoba has already signed an MOU to facilitate the food processing industry by setting up the project of Food Development Centre in Haryana which will help in boosting the processed food products through their value addition.
Selinger also offered hydropower collaboration and said Manitoba had sufficient expertise in this field. He evinced keen interest in Hydropower projects that Haryana had signed with Bhutan. Haryana already has 13 financial and technical collaborations with Canadian companies with an investment of nearly 5 million Canadian dollars.
Chief Administrator Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board TVSN Prasad said the state was a pioneer in agricultural products but said storage facilities were still inadequate.
Selinger said officers of both sides can discuss about it in detail. The Manitoba delegation led by premier Selinger comprised Secretary to Cabinet for Priorities and Planning Manotoba Anna Rothney and legislators Bidhu Jha and Mohinder Saran.
