Heavy rains lashed the capital this morning bringing with it problems of water logging, slowing down of traffic and exposing the lack of preparedness of civic bodies.

New Delhi: Heavy rains lashed the capital
this morning bringing with it problems of water logging,
slowing down of traffic and exposing the lack of preparedness
of civic bodies.

The showers started at around 11 am and the roads were
suddenly filled with water in many areas slowing down
vehicular movement.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 28.2 degree
Celsius, down from yesterday`s 28.7 degrees. Yesterday, the
maximum was recorded at 34.7 degree Celsius.

The city has not been experiencing monsoon showers for
the past few days and the mercury had been on the rise causing
inconvenience to people.

Cases of water logging were reported from ITO, Ashoka
Road, Windsor Place, Parliament Street and Laxmi Nagar.
The traffic was also affected in many areas of the
capital, including in central and south Delhi.

Water logging was also reported from Mahipalpur
village following which traffic coming from Gurgoan and going
towards Vasant Kunj has been diverted.

Similarly, traffic has been diverted because of
water logging in Dhaula Kuan.
