A hot day lies ahead for Delhi with the maximum temperature likely to soar to 41 degrees Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said Tuesday.

New Delhi: A hot day lies ahead for Delhi with the maximum temperature likely to soar to 41 degrees Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said Tuesday.

The minimum temperature recorded Tuesday morning was also two notches above average at 30 degrees Celsius. The average humidity was recorded at 56 percent till 8.30 a.m.

"The sky will be mainly clear and is likely to become partly cloudy by evening. Thundery developments are likely," an IMD official said.

Delhi saw a hot and humid Monday, with the maximum temperature at 39.5 degrees Celsius.
