Hot weather forces Delhiites to remain indoors

New Delhi: Scorching sun made many
Delhiites to confine themselves to their homes on Sunday
as mercury soared to 42.6 degree Celsius.

Today`s maximum was four degree above normal and up
from yesterday`s 41 degree Celsius, while the minimum was at
28.4 deg C, three degrees above normal and up from previous
day`s 28.2 deg C.

The maximum soared to the season`s highest on May 12
when it touched 43.1 degree Celsius.

The weatherman is predicting no relief from oppressive
heat conditions for tomorrow as well with the mercury likely
to be around 43 deg C. The minimum could be 28 deg C.

The humidity oscillated between 13 per cent and 48 per
cent, the MeT department said.

Last year, the maximum had touched 45.4 deg C on May
18, the highest in the past 10 years for the month. The record
maximum for May was 47.2 deg C recorded on 29th of the month
in 1944.
