New Delhi: A clerk with the Indian Air Force
today donated the organs of his son, who died recently in a
road accident, thereby helping an eye transplant.
IAF officials said here today that Arun Kumar Mishra, an
upper division clerk at the office of IAF`s vice-chief,
offered to donate the organs following the death of his son,
Ashutosh, on June 3.
Ashutosh, who was studying B.Tech in Chandigarh, had met
with an accident on May 29 and succumbed to his head injuries
at a hospital.
Though Mishra had donated all organs of his son, only the
eyes could be used for a transplant, as there were no ready
receiver for the kidneys, the official said.
"By donating the eyes of his son, Mishra had enabled a
not-so-fortunate individual to get back his vision," he added.
