In Delhi, Lt Governor-appointed ACB chief 'threatens' AAP-appointed ACB chief

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) appointed Anti-Corruption Branch chief Surender Singh Yadav has alleged threat to his life from Lt Governor appointed Delhi ACB chief Mukesh Kumar Meena, reports said on Friday.

According to reports, Yadav has written a letter to the Delhi government complaining that Meena allegedly threatened him with dire consequences after he refused to share details of some sensitive FIRs.

Other than the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government, Yadav has sent letters to Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi informing them about alleged threats from Meena.

Speaking to a leading newspaper, Additional Commissioner Yadav confirmed that not only him but other ACB officials are also being threatened by Meena.

It is being learnt that Meena has also sent a notice to Yadav citing legal implications if the latter doesn't budge and share the FIRs.

The development comes as the AAP government and LT Governor are embroiled in a battle over a host of issues including appointment of government officers.

Meanwhile, AAP leader Ashutosh took to Twitter to slam Meena and demanded a criminal case filed against him.

Meena was appointed the ACB chief earlier this month by Delhi Lt Governor, which drew flak from the AAP government.

A 1989-batch Indian Police Service Officer, Joint Commissioner Meena took charge of the ACB from Additional Commissioner SS Yadav, who was hand-picked by the Delhi government for the job.

Earlier, an Additional Commissioner-level officer used to head ACB but the LG had elevated the rank of head of the probe agency from Additional Commissioner to Joint Commissioner.

The AAP government had later issued orders asking Meena to rejoin the Delhi Police.

In something unprecedented, two Home Secretaries -- one appointed by the AAP government and another who followed the Lt Governor's orders – work separately at the Delhi Secretariat these days.
