New Delhi: An independent committee, set up by the Delhi Assembly, recommended on Tuesday four time hike in the salaries and allowances for the state MLAs.

The independent panel recommended Delhi MLAs salary to be increased to 50,000 from the current 12,000, ANI reported.

The recommendation committee further asked to hike the conveyance amount of the MLAs from 6,000 to 30,000.

The revision of the legislators’ pay has been finalised by a group of experts of the panel. The recommendation was given after a comprehensive study was done on the salary and allowance structures for elected representatives in various states and also in the legislatures of different countries.

Apart from giving its recommendation, the panel also came up with a transparent and scientific mechanism for periodic revision of salary and allowances of legislators.

Notably, this is the first time that a committee has given its recommendation into the question of revision of the salaries and allowances of MLAs.
