New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister-designate Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday promised to provide 700 litres of free water to each household within 24 hours of taking oath along with his cabinet ministers on December 28.
The Aam Aadmi Party convener also assured to introduce the Jan Lokpal Bill in 15 days and criticised the protocol followed by a state in order to seek the Centre`s approval to pass a law. Furthermore, he also said that the existing procedure to wait for Centre`s nod is similar to the situation under British rule when Indian government had to seek permission from London.
The AAP manifesto clearly says that the party would provide 700 litres free water daily to every home in Delhi. However, in case the usage exceeds the defined limit, the consumer will have to pay for the entire quantity.
While only three days are left for Kejriwal to be sworn-in as Delhi`s chief minister, he also assured that the party will implement all its promises.
The oath-taking ceremony for Kejriwal and his cabinet ministers is expected to take place at 12 pm on Saturday. Apart from him, the list of cabinet ministers includes Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Somnath Bharti, Rakhi Birla, Satyendra Jain and Girish Soni.
In the recently held Delhi Assembly elections, AAP had won 28 seats. The BJP, which emerged as the single largest party with 31 seats, refused to form the government citing lack of clear majority. Moreover, Congress could only win eight seats.
