New Delhi: Delhiites on Thursday had slight relief
from the severe heat after light rains in some parts of the
city, while the more respite may come tomorrow in the form of
rains and thundershowers.
Traces of rains were reported in some localities in the
city as clouds covered blazing sun. The maximum temperature
was recorded at 40.1 degree Celsius, normal for this time of
the season but nearly two degrees down from yesterday`s high
of 41.8 degree Celsius.
The minimum settled at 27.4 degrees, which was also on
the normal range. The humidity ranged from 36 per cent to 57
per cent, a MeT official said.
The weatherman has predicted a partly cloudy sky with
possibility of rain and thundershowers tomorrow. Thunder
squall is also likely in some areas.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be
around 38 and 26 degree Celsius, respectively.
After weekend rains brought down the temperatures, heat
was back in the national capital for the last couple of days.
Last year, the maximum had touched 45.4 degree C on May
18, the highest in the past 10 years for the month. The record
maximum for May was 47.2 degree C reported on 29th of the
month in 1944.
