Lok Adalat decides over 3,000 cases
A special Lok Adalat disposed of 3021 cases pending in various district courts in the national capital.
New Delhi: Compensations amounting to over Rs 1.12 crore were awarded in 74 motor accident cases on Saturday by a special Lok Adalat which disposed of 3021 cases pending in various district courts in the national capital.
The Lok Adalat organized by the Delhi State Legal
Services Authority in six district courts of Delhi, comprising
43 benches, dealt with more than 3553 cases relating to
dishonour of cheques, civil, labour, electricity, criminal
compoundable offences and recovery matters.
Of the 206 criminal cases that were also taken up, 132
were disposed of by way of plea bargaining in a special
Besides these, a special Electricity Lok Adalat
comprising 12 benches was also conducted which settled around
1040 cases pertaining to BSES RPL, for a cumulative settlement
amount of Rs 3 crore.
These 12 special benches for electricity matters would be
sitting tomorrow as well.
