Madhubani boy sent to remand home, girl sent home
Madhubani: The Madhubani school boy who was traced at Qutub Minar in Delhi with his girlfriend after being assumed dead triggering violence in the district, was on Friday produced in a court here, which send him to a remand home.
The 17-year-old Prashant Kumar Jha was produced by the police in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Ashok Kumar Gupta amidst tight security and was sent to a remand home.
The girl Preeti Chaudhary was medically examined and found to be a minor.
The CJM after recording her statement allowed her to go home with her father Jagpati Chaudhary and mother.
In obedience to the court`s order, the district police escorted her home with her parents, the girl`s advocate Sanjay Kumar said.
The Madhubani police brought the boy and girl, who had eloped in September, to the town late last night by road after taking them off a train at Muzaffarpur.
Though the court premises were virtually converted into a fortress, the police had a tough time managing the crowd gathered outside.
The boy`s family, including parents and grandparents, were not present.
According to the police, grandfather Chandeshwar Jha, grandmother Jhema Devi, father Rajiv Kumar and mother Vinita were traceless.
The two, both students of class X of a public school in Madhubani, had eloped on September 7 and travelled to Muzaffarpur, Darjeeling and Jammu before arriving in Delhi.
They were traced at Qutub Minar on October 15 and taken to the Mehrauli police station where Bihar DGP Abhyanand talked to them over mobile phone.
The North Bihar town of Madhubani had witnessed violence and arson for two days on October 12-13 after the police refused to hand over a beheaded body, which the family claimed was that of the boy.
The protestors had torched three police stations. The police opened fire at Jainagar in which two persons were killed and many others injured.
Sniffing an opportunity against the Nitish Kumar government, Opposition RJD, LJP, Left parties and Congress had observed a Bihar bandh on October 15 against the firing.
