New Delhi: Acting tough against unauthorised constructions, the MCD Friday demolished illegal portions in 21 properties and sealed one structure in the national capital.
The action was taken by the Building Department with the
help of police against nine properties in Rohini Zone, eight
properties in Civil Lines Zone, three properties in Central
Zone and one property in Najafgarh Zone.
The demolition drive took place in Sawan Park, Shanti
Nagar, Raja Park, Pitam Pura, Keshav Puram, Lawrence Road,
Old Gupta Colony, Jahangirpuri, Adarsh Nagar, Model Town,
Civil Lines, Azadpur, Taimoor Nagar, Sukhdev Vihar and
Sriniwaspuri, officials said. One property was partly
demolished and partly sealed in Palam Village.
The MCD started acting tough against unauthorised
constructions after a building with illegal floors collapsed
in east Delhi in November last year killing 71 people.
