New Delhi: Soon, you may bring an ordinary
bulb to an MCD office and get a power-saving compact
fluorescent lamp (CFL).
This was informed by Standing Committee Chairman Yogender
Chandolia at a meeting of the key panel today in which the
budget 2011-12 of the civic body was finalised.
He said the MCD wants to help the citizens save Rs
300-400 a month by using the energy-saving CFL bulbs and also
promote the conservation of energy.
The scheme is expected to take off from April and
modalities in this regard are being given shape. The MCD will
designate some offices from this `exchange offer` and has
earmarked Rs 10 crore for the purpose.
Officials said the citizens will need to furnish an
identity proof and will have to bring an ordinary bulb which
is in working condition to get the offer.
