New Delhi: Verdict is expected on Tuesday in the Mercedes hit-and-run case that took place in the national capital recently.
Hindustan Times reported that the Juvenile Justice Board could pronounce its judgment in the case today, in which a minor mowed down a 34-year-old with his speeding Mercedes car.
The Class 12 student, who turned 18 just four days after the incident, was allegedly driving at a speed of 80 kmph when his car hit Siddharth Sharma near Ludlow Castle School in north Delhi’s Civil Lines area.
The accused surrendered before the police on April 10 and was sent to a juvenile justice home.
The Delhi Police last week charged him with culpable homicide after it emerged that the accused was a repeat offender.
His father was also taken into custody for abetting the crime but was later granted bail.
The CCTV footage of the accident had gone viral on social media and showed the victim crossing the road when the speeding Mercedes hit him, throwing him several feet in the air.
