New Delhi: A 12-year-old girl was raped by her teenaged neighbour in west Delhi on Sunday, the police said.
"The incident occurred in Nihal Vihar`s A-block, while the victim was on her way to the market around 10 am", said a senior police officer.
According to police, the 15-year-old accused, a labourer, caught hold of the girl while she was passing by his house.
"We have reason to believe that the accused was helped by one of his friends, who is also a juvenile. The victim later ran to her house and told her parents about the incident", the officer said.
"Her medical examination also confirmed sexual assault", he said.
A compliant has been lodged by the victim`s family members saying that the accused had been harassing their daughter for the last week few weeks.
"We are on the lookout for the accused and his accomplice", said the officer.
