Chandigarh: A day after minor daughter of a Delhi-based share broker was rescued from the clutches of abductors, police on Monday claimed to have arrested one of the accused from Panipat.

The three-and-a-half-year-old daughter was kidnapped from a hotel here on January 15 allegedly by business partner of her parents.

This evening, police arrested Chinar from Panipat.

Raids are also going on at various places in Haryana to arrest the remaining accused and their accomplices, police said.

"We have identified all those who were involved in kidnapping of girl child... Our teams are in Haryana and Delhi and they will soon be arrested," UT Chandigarh, SSP Naunihal Singh said in a press conference held here.

Stating that the police`s priority was to recover the girl child safely, SSP, however, said no money was exchanged with the accused for the release of girl.

The minor, Hermione, was rescued yesterday from Jind in Haryana.

The child was allegedly abducted by her Delhi-based father`s business partner, Jagpal Beniwal, for a ransom of Rs one crore on January 15 from a local hotel here.

There was a financial dispute between parents of the girl and the accused, who had been claiming that the girl`s parents were owing Rs 60 lakh to him, though parents said that only Rs 8-10 lakh was to be paid to Beniwal, police claimed.

The officer said that Raju, brother-in-law of main accused Jagdeep Beniwal and his accomplice Chinar were also involved in the girl`s abduction.

The girl`s father, Harish Arora, had come to stay in the city in a hotel in Sector 22 on January 12 with his wife Priya and their two children, police said.
