New Delhi: The store manager of an apparel showroom was arrested after a woman executive allegedly discovered a mobile phone on video recording mode placed inside its trial room.
The accused, identified as Pulkit Sanwal, was arrested yesterday after the woman approached police.
The incident took place yesterday afternoon when a 23-year-old woman had gone into the trial room of the showroom located in southeast Delhi's Lajpat Nagar area to try out some outfits, police said.
However, the woman allegedly discovered a mobile phone placed strategically in a gap in the trial room and when she checked it, she found that the phone was on video recording mode, they said.
"We conducted a raid at the showroom and seized the mobile phone after the woman made a call. Sanwal who confessed that it was he who had kept the phone there has been arrested under Sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 354C (Voyeurism) of IPC," said a police official.
The mobile phone has been sent for forensic examination and Sanwal is being interrogated by the police.
"We are trying to find out how long he had been doing so and did he sell any such videos to any websites for money or was he doing so for his personal consumption. Further investigations are on," he added.
