The Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi Government on Wednesday said NAFED should not allow misleading statements on onion prices.

New Delhi: The Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi Government on Wednesday said NAFED should not allow misleading statements on onion prices.

The government said that it would like to know from the NAFED whether a misleading statement on prices of onions given by a political nominee on its board of directors is its official position.

The Delhi Cabinet had in its meeting on Tuesday, chaired by Kejriwal, approved the proposal of the food and civil supplies department to sell onions at 280 locations across the national capital at Rs. 40 per kg.

The Food and Civil Supplies Department has made arrangements for selling onions in packets of one kg each at Fair Price Shops (FPS) in all the wards of the city from Monday (August 10).

The department has also decided to sell onions through mobile vans at places where Fair Price Shops are not close to residential locations, so that the public does not face any inconvenience.

The government will keep a close check on the prices of other essential commodities and has warned hoarders of strict action in case they indulge in this illegal activity.
