New Delhi: Delhi's Lt governor Najeeb Jung on Wednesday directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to take up the repair works at Nehru Girls Hostel and Nehru Boys Hostel at Dilshad Garden to upgrade the facilities.
Jung stressed that pre-examination coaching centre for SCs, STs, OBCs and Minorities, meant to train them for various competitive examinations for jobs, must be made operational with tutors and staff at the earliest. Jung today held a review meeting with Chief Secretary, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries and HODs of various Departments, LG house said in a release today.
The review of Forensic Science Laboratory showed the need to address issues of pendency and hiring specialized staff. While reviewing field visits to Prisons, Jung instructed Secretary (Home) to explore the possibility of setting up kiosks for sale of Tihar products in Connaught Place, Delhi Secretariat and Dilli Haats.
Delhi Fire Service review highlighted the need to have swift recruitment of trained staff to fill up the existing vacancies which is currently under process. The Lt Governor raised the issue of running awareness programmes to help prevent fires.
Drugs Control Department too was reviewed which presented a report on inspection visits to Bhagirath Palace and Naharpur, Rohini in which 3 licenses of dealers have been cancelled, 13 suspended and prosecution launched against 1 stockist. In other inspections conducted at retail outlets near AIIMS, GTB, LNJP, Safdarjung hospitals, 12 licenses have been suspended and 19 show cause notices issued.
