NDA govt taking Congress' works ahead: Sheila Diskhit on regularisation of unauthorised colonies

New Delhi: As Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced the government's decision to regularise 895 colonies of Delhi, former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday claimed that the regularisation process began during Congress' rule in the city.

While speaking to ANI, Dikshit said: “The decision to regularise unauthorised colonies in Delhi was taken by Congress government in Delhi. It's a matter of pride for us that the present government at the Centre is taking our development works ahead.”

“The deadline only shows that the work on regularisation of unauthorised colonies was already going on,” she further added.

During a public gathering at Talkatora stadium in January last year, Dikshit while addressing thousands of residents of South Delhi unauthorised colonies had said that it was her dream to delete the word 'unauthorised colonies' from the dictionary of Delhi.

In March 2013, she had sought the then union urban development minister Kamal Nath`s intervention in ensuring early regularisation of around 200 unauthorised colonies.

Meanwhile, launching a scathing attack on BJP-led government for its decision to regularise unauthorised colonies before Delhi elections, the Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal said that it is nothing but a pre-poll gimmick.

He further accused both the BJP and the Congress of playing politics over these colonies.
