New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Monday claimed to

uncle Subhash Chopra (63) with the help of three associates at
his Prashant Vihar residence on March 11, Ashol Chand, Deputy
Commissioner of Police (Crime), said.

"Kuldeep was employed by his uncle for help in his
liaisoning work in MCD but he was not paid sufficient salary
to meet all financial needs. Due to financial problems, he had
to mortgage the papers of his house with his uncle for which
he received Rs 2 lakh.

"The accused also said that his uncle used to rebuke him
on petty matters. He was also under the impression that his
uncle kept a large amount of money in his house," Chand said.

Chopra, who retired from the MCD, ran two schools and had
other properties. He also undertook liaisoning work.

The murder was reported to police by Kuldeep himself,
Chand said, adding that the arrests were made at Mukarba Chowk
yesterday following inputs about the presence of Chopra`s
killers there.

Besides Kuldeep, the others who were arrested have been
identified as Sachin (25), Jitender (23) and Satpal (30).
Jitender is the nephew of Satpal.

Sachin, Jitender and Satpal had on March 11 gagged Chopra
and then taped his mouth which led to his death, as they
ransacked his residence.

Kuldeep told police that Sachin was his friend. Both were
facing financial problems and discussed committing robbery for
money and to get back the property papers mortgaged with
Chopra.

Sachin roped in Jitander and Satpal and on March 10, they
recceed the house. A day later, the three men entered the
house armed with knives.

"They entered the house on the pretext of conducting
negotiations regarding renting out a shop, after which they
gagged Chopra and taped his mouth. They then ransacked the
house. Meanwhile Kuldeep reached at his usual time at 9.00 am.

"He was informed by a woman teacher of the school which
was at ground floor that three persons had gone upstairs.
Kuldeep then asked the school cab driver Ramesh to accompany
him upstairs. They intercepted Sachin," Chand said.

Sachin pushed them and ran away. Kuldeep and the cab
driver came downstairs to apprehend Sachin while Jitender and
Satpal escaped.
