New Delhi: National Human Rights Commission on Wednesday issued notices to Delhi Government and police seeking reports over a death due to electrocution inside a public toilet in Shakarpur area of the city.
According to an official statement released today, notices have been issued in this regard to Chief Secretary, Government of NCT of Delhi and Commissioner of Police, Delhi calling for detailed report in the matter within four weeks.
The notices were issued after the commission took suo motu cognisance of media reports that a vegetable vendor, Kishan Lal, got electrocuted in a public toilet in Shakarpur area of Delhi on June 24, 2015.
Reportedly, several complaints were made to the power distribution company about the current in the railing in the toilet for the past couple of days but nothing was done. A case is reported to have been registered at the Shakarpur Police Station in the matter.
The Commission has observed that the contents of the press reports, if true, raise serious issue of violation of human rights of the victim.
