Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Tuesday came out in support of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal saying how could a state government discharge its responsibilities when it was not allowed to have a say in appointment of a chief secretary.

"The Delhi government is elected by the people to whom it is responsible and accountable to," Kumar told reporters here.

"What kind of government it would be if it does not have a say even in selection of a chief secretary of the state?

"The Delhi state does not have control over police and now it could not have a chief secretary of its choice... How can it discharge its responsibility?" Kumar said when asked to comment on the latest round of confrontation between Kejriwal and Lt Governor Najeeb Jung over appointment of acting chief secretary Shakuntala Gamlin and other bureaucrats.

Kumar also supported full-statehood for Delhi so that it would have strength to discharge its constitutional duties.
