New Delhi: Railways have not decided to
postpone the coming Railway Recruitment Board (RRB)
examinations on June 27 or to cancel them in the wake of CBI
raids in recruitment scam case on Friday.
"No decision has been taken yet to postpone the June 27
examinations," said a senior Railway Ministry official.
CBI has unearthed a railway recruitment scam by
conducting simultaneous raids in Mumbai, Bangalore, Raipur,
Kolkata and Hyderabad. The scam relates to the examinations
for the posts of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) and Assistant
Station Master (ASM).
About 16 lakh candidates had appeared for the exams on
June 6 and 13 at several centres across the country.
Currently, the Railways have vacancies of about 2 lakh
posts in different categories including safety and operation.
RRBs are conducting exams in 24 categories of posts
beginning on June 3 and the exams will continue till July end.
